Michael Landon played the character of Little Joe Cartwright in the popular western television series Bonanza. Bonanza ran for 14 seasons from 1959-1973 and was set on a sprawling ranch called the Ponderosa in Nevada during the 1860s.
Landon's character was the youngest of the Cartwright brothers, and was known for his energetic and impulsive nature, as well as his distinctive hairstyle.
Landon was a key cast member for the entire run of the series, and also wrote and directed several episodes. Following the end of Bonanza, Landon went on to have further success as an actor, writer, and director, with notable credits including Little House on the Prairie and Highway to Heaven.
Landon passed away in 1991 at the age of 54 due to pancreatic cancer, but his contributions to the world of television continue to be celebrated by fans today.
